BEST HOTELS. Those thinking the Ocampo Four would have had an easier time were the trials to be held in Kenya are mistaken, remarks Martin Tairo Maseghe.
According to him, former Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, Eldoret North MP William Ruto, and the other two are better off at the ICC, “as they will remain free men during the trials”.
In Kenya, he adds, the suspects would today be cooling their heels in remand.
“But if they get detained, the ICC facilities are comparable to suites in the best hotels in Nairobi.”

ANNOYING DELAY. His mother is always in a foul mood these days, and Solomon Ontomwa is laying the blame squarely at the feet of Kenya Power.
On August 17, last year, Solomon gave his ageing mother something to smile about when he paid for power connection to enable her to operate a posho mill.
He forked out a princely Sh54,700 (Ref. e24402011071764).

To date, Solomon, who is based in Sudan, says nothing has happened.
His mother is upset about the delay and their talk about there being no cables just infuriates her more.

--------------
TRAFFIC NIGHTMARE. Nairobi’s Lang’ata Road has been witnessing massive jams in the mornings, evenings, and at weekends, moans David Jasondu.
The population explosion in Ongata Rongai and Lang’ata, especially with the construction of the National Housing Corporation flats, has overstretched capacity.
But the situation is worse at Lang’ata estate, where matatu drivers and private motorists have thrown caution to the wind, creating senseless gridlock daily.
Jasondu wants the police intervene to restore order, especially on Kitengela Road.
--------------
COCKROACH INVASION. Does anybody have an idea as to how one can put an end to a cockroach menace that O. Mwaria says has given him endless headaches for many months, as the little creatures have literally taken over his house.
In the early days of what has become a major invasion, he was sure that insecticide sprays would drive them out, but they have stayed put.
“In fact, the more I spray, the more cockroaches I see. Who will help me to get rid of them?” urges Mwaria, whose contact is onmwaria@gmail.com.
-------------
POWER FAILURE. The residents of Kiembeni and the Bamburi area of Mombasa deserve an explanation from Kenya Power management on the frequent blackouts, some lasting throughout the night, says Derrick Kashero.
The power failure at night, Derrick adds, creates a perfect cover for criminals to operate, and target the residents.

It has also made life rather difficult for the residents, as they can no longer keep food in their fridges as it will go bad.
“If this is new power rationing, how come we miss power during the day and at night?”

BLATANT POLLUTION. There is always a cloud of thick smoke all over Kibarani, Mombasa, reports Frank Ethan, faulting Nema for not taking decisive action against those behind the blatant pollution at the dumpsite.
Nema, he pleads, must urgently do something about the strong stench of rotting garbage and the nasty smoke from burning old tyres at Mlima Namba Ten.
“This is not how to welcome the tourists being driven to the nearby hotels,” says a disgusted Frank, who can be reached for the details through frank.ethan@hotmail.com
Have a pleasant day, won’t you!
