Justice Minister Mutula Kilonzo is not only known as a good lawyer, he also runs an animal sanctuary out in the plains of Ukambani. The recent birth of a buffalo calf gave the minister an opportunity to indulge in something that brought his ascerbic wit and love of wildlife together. He named the calf Mugabe in honor of octogenarian Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe whom he admires for his push to have whites only farmland revert to black Zimbabweans.

A senior government official is at his wits end after police frustrated his efforts to get a motor dealer arrested for obtaining Sh778,000 under the pretense that he would import for him a Toyota vehicle. The civil servant paid the money in July 2010 and until now has never got the vehicle despite frequent visits, calls and appeals to the motor dealer who operates in Westlands off Rhapta road. The fact that he has reported the motor dealer and recorded statements at Parklands police station has brought no action with the police saying its a civil matter. Three MPs were spotted in a dimly lit corner of a restaurant off Lenana road in Nairobi. Our moles could not help but overhear their conversation as they criticised the parliamentary committee that investigated the rapid decline of the shilling. The three MPs were in agreement that the report submitted by the committee was 'shoddy' and would not achieve its recommendation to have the CBK governor Njuguna Ndung'u sacked. The MPs claimed as it is, the report could easily be dismissed by their colleagues in Parliament as it did not have much substance to support the recommendation. The MPs agreed to meet their colleagues and “coach them” on how to make their case strong when the report is debated in the house.

Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has made one Cabinet minister a very happy man. Reason? The good CJ has handed the minister a copy of the Holy Qur'an written in the minister’s mother tongue. Though he is a Christian, the minister is so happy about the gift from the CJ and he has been telling his close friends how the new Holy book has helped him understand Islam especially when the Qur'an is read in one’s mother tongue.
