Eldoret North MP William Ruto will on Thursday announce a new party that he plans to use to vie for the presidency later this year after he ditched UDM on Monday.
The United Republican Party will bring together leaders from different political parties who have declared interest in the party.
Two cabinet ministers, 20 MPs and the group’s legal Advisor Kipchumba Murkomen met at International Bible School in Nairobi on Tuesday to work out the modalities of launching URP and announced that they will have further consultations on Wednesday before the launch.
The meeting of MPs allied to Mr Ruto formed a committee of four members to finalise the logistics of the new party.
The committee members include Medical services Assistant Minister Kazungu Kambi, Dujis MP Adan Duale, Turkana Central MP Ekwe Ethuro and Chepalungu MP Isaac Rutto.
Mr Duale the party’s spokesperson said they had made wide consultations with stake holders and will have a meeting tomorrow which will culminate in the launch of the new party.
“We have had fruitful discussions on which way to use as we prepare for the coming elections and we will still have consultations to finalise the move,” said Mr Duale.

He said that they will unveil the party on Thursday and hold a major rally on Saturday in Nairobi before they move out to popularize the party in other parts of the country.
Mr Ruto and MPs allied to him quit UDM on Monday citing frustrations by the party’s secretary general Martin Ole Kamwaro.
Rongai MP Lucas Kigen said the woes that led to their quitting UDM were exacerbated by ODM and PNU senior officials who were not happy with the party rising star.
