ENRAGED Narok Kenya National Union of Teachers officials stormed Narok South district education office following  the district's dismal performance in national exams. Led by executive secretary Dennis Rakua, chairman Edwin Sang and treasurer Stanley Mpoe, they claimed that DEO, Ambolwa Obiri and Nathan Rono have failed to undertake their activities effectively.
The Knut officials gave the Education ministry an ultimatum of 14 days to transfer the officers failure to which they will hold series of demonstrations. “We allow the government only 14 days to bring new officers or else we will mobilise all teachers in the county for peacefull demonstrations,”Rakua said. “Their office is in a deplorable condition as a result of mismanagement,” Rakua said while showing reporters the important documents carelessly placed in the open area in the office.
Rakua alleged that the staffing officer has been colluding with teachers seeking transfer to areas of their choice. He said that if the habit continues, the academic performance of the county in national exams would be adversely affected. The DEO, Ambolwa Obiri denied corruption allegations raised saying that there is a ploy by the Knut officials to have him replaced. He said the transfers effected in the district are a normal procedure, citing an acute shortage of teachers.
