A group of MPs on Sunday dismissed talks of political unity among parties allied to PNU Alliance saying such unity did not exist.
Speaking in Nyeri during a three-day retreat for the United Democratic Forum Party (UDFP), the 18 MPs said the perceived unity under the alliance was a red herring.
“UDFP will not be associated with PNU Alliance because such an alliance does not exist,” Kajiado East MP Katoo ole Metito said.
Far from unity
Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni said the events in Nairobi during the launch of PNU Alliance membership recruitment drive, was a testimony that parties under the alliance were far from unity. (READ: Legal hurdles, mistrust threaten PNU Alliance)
“Everyone watched the events on television and it was clear an alliance of parties does not exist,” he said.
MPs allied to the UDFP said they would continue strengthening their party not only to conform with the Political Parties Act, but to ensure one of their own gets to Sate House.
Mandera Central MP Abdikadir Mohammed is reportedly being fronted by the group as the party’s presidential flag bearer
