Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta has been warned by his party Kanu against attending Friday's launch of the PNU Alliance recruitment. The party's NEC and Parliamentary group met yesterday and announced that Kanu will not be part of the exercise, since PNU Alliance is a competitor.
In a statement read to the press, deputy secretary general Moitale ole Kenta said Uhuru can only attend the launch in his individual capacity and not as Kanu boss. Kanu argues that it will be illegal to engage in any association without the approval of the party organs and structures. “It is a decision of the party that the chairman or any other official of the party shall not be engaged in any premature activities of other party officials for the time being,” Kenta said while announcing that Kanu has pulled out of the launch. “The party therefore advises all its members that it is not engaged in the launching of PNU Alliance party this Friday 13th January.”
Nithi MP Kareke Mbiuki asked Uhuru to declare his stand and stop confusing party members. “He (Uhuru) cannot be seen cutting the PNU Alliance cake today and tomorrow he is singing Jogoo. Kanu is not 'wiper' where you are neither here nor there,” Mbiuki added. Molo MP Joseph Kiuna said both PNU and PNU Alliance should be obsolete.
