An Alliance Girls’ High School student committed suicide in Uswo village in Uasin Gishu County.
Stella Limo, 17, had wanted to be admitted to a local school because she said she suffered from nausea during long travels to Nairobi.
Her father David Limo said Stella had expressed preference for Sing’ore Girls High in Keiyo North constituency.
Limo, however, found her a place at Moi Girls Kapsowar on Friday evening.
"When I came back I found her already asleep and could not show her the admission letter from Moi Girls.
On Saturday morning they however discovered she was missing prompting a search.
"After a fruitless search, I instructed her sister to check her books to see whether she had left a note and it is when we found a suicide note," he said.
The note read in part:"Mimi nimeamua kuingia ndani ya ... I hope I will be dead by the time you get me. If so no students from my former school should attend my funeral. Transfer is not all I needed. My death was already planned. I didn’t have many friends bye."
They found the body in a 56 feet well within their compound.
Stella’s mother was traumatised and was unable to utter a word.
A sad traumatising story......our condelensces to the bereaved. That should be a warning to parents once a child expresses need to transfer schools or shows signs of uncomfortability they should get to the root of the problem and solve it.....
