The Cutting Edge

TREAT THEN LIKE VIPs. VIPs should have special separate entrances to airports, restaurants, hospitals, banks, elevators and ATM cubicles to avoid queuing and getting frisked, proposes J. Awinja Wameyo, no doubt in response to the Nancy Baraza saga.
“These accesses should be automated so that these folks can enter using passcodes or by swiping cards, as we shouldn’t expect guards to recognise their faces all the time. But travelling incognito, especially on private business, is better security in the long run,” she says.

DON'T JUDGE BARAZA. People should not rush to judge Deputy Chief Justice Baraza before the investigations into the New Year’s Eve saga are completed, cautions Wambua Musembi, rejecting B.K. Ng’ang’a’s attempt to use the incident as confirmation that top Kenyan women are supposedly their own their worst enemies.
“It’s myopic to conclude that women are poor performers,” Wambua says, urging those criticising Baraza to give due process a chance.

LINE GIVE AWAY. Telkom Kenya’s records show that Tel 3862694 was initially registered to Marks Catherine Ambunya, says chief corporate communications officer Angela Ng’ang’a-Mumo.

However, on May 19, 2009, following an extended period during which the line remained inactive, the number reverted to the database.
“It was issued to a new customer in November 2009. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to issue the same number back to Mr David Marks.
However, we can restore the service and provide an alternative number if he is interested.”

LINE RESTORED. Fatma Mohammed can now keep in touch with her ailing father at Eastleigh, Nairobi, using his landline, 6764070, which is now working, says Ms Ng’ang’a-Mumo.
She is apologetic over the delay in restoring the service. However, she confirms that after the fault was been rectified, an email was sent to Fatma to inform her about the breakthrough.
“We now look forward to being of continued service to Fatma’s family and wish her father’s health improves.”

NOT RAILA'S EQUAL. Plenty has been said about former Prime Minister Raila Odinga adviser Miguna Miguna’s abrasive style, but what Ibrahim Hamissi finds even more intriguing is the man’s revelation that during consultations before the reinstatement he finally turned down, he met his former boss “on my own terms and not Raila’s”.
This, to Ibrahim, appears like an attempt by Miguna to equate himself to his former master.
“Who doesn’t know who the boss between the two of them was?” asks Ibrahim, whose contact is ihamissi@yahoo.com.
---------------------------------------
LET MIGUNA TALK. Let Miguna spill the beans on the Prime Minister’s office, urges Gerald Matiri, disagreeing with those criticising the lawyer.
According to him, the PM, as the holder of one of the key offices in the land, must be scrutinised “to ensure he is as clean as snow”.
Gerald adds: “I find those criticising Miguna rather dishonest. Kenyans must shun worshipping their leaders and treating them like angels who cannot err. This breeds sycophancy and dictatorship.”
