WOMEN NOT RELIABLE: The Baraza gun saga, B. K. Ng’ang’a says, confirms the popular view that top Kenyan women are their own worst enemies.
Other examples, he claims, include an assistant minister who, some years ago, slapped a watchman at a school in her constituency, a Cabinet minister who took her own hairdresser, at public expense, to the Beijing women’s conference, and another minister’s frequent public quarrels with her rivals.
This, according to Ng’ang’a, is why he would hesitate to vote for a woman as president.

ROAD IMPASSABLE. On the Eldoret-Kapsabet road just after the Eldoret International Airport, the four-kilometre dirt road to Chepyakwai Centre is perhaps the worst in the region, says Jane Chepchumba.
Rugged and dusty during the dry season, it is a veritable nightmare for the locals come the long rainy season, she adds.
She is not even sure that local MP, Peris Simam, would risk her posh 4WD on this treacherous track.

RETURN OUR LANDLINE. Nairobi resident David Marks is quite unhappy with Telkom Kenya  for cutting off some of his contacts, but he still hopes the issue can be amicably resolved.
While he and his wife were abroad recently, David says their landline, No 3862694, which they have held for a long time, was repossessed without an explanation from the service provider.
David would like to know whether there is any possibility of the couple getting back the same number, which they have had for a while.

MIGUNA, COOL DOWN. Ex-Raila Odinga adviser Miguna Miguna may take pride in being seen to be standing up to him, but his pronouncements are only eroding his own image, remarks Ken Butiko.
“His statements on TV interviews have been petty. Even Salim Lone has written speeches for the PM, but he doesn’t go bragging about it. There are also people who write speeches for President Barack Obama. In the interviews, I’ve seen nothing but pettiness and an attempt at character assassination.”

CALL ME OR ELSE . . . Last Friday, at about 8pm, on the Old Kiambu Road, Mike Round-Turner says he came across yet “another case of impunity”.
A fellow motorist (number-plate withheld) pulled out behind Mike to tuck in behind a “ministerial or someone else’s escort considered important” and side-swiped him.
Mike adds: “Needless to say, his self-importance meant he did not bother to stop and assess the damage.”

He says the guard rails on the footbridge at the General Motors bridge have been sawn off, exposing pedestrians to grave danger.BRIDGE VANDALISED. Vandals wreaking havoc in search of scrap metal have been active near Imara Daima estate, Nairobi, Edwin Kimani reports.
“At this rate, we shall soon be singing our new anthem, ‘Tunaomba Serikali (we’re begging the government….)’.
Can the Kenya National Highways Authority do something about this? asks Edwin, whose contact iskimanied@yahoo.com.
Have a secure day, won’t you!.
