Could the fire at the VIP lounge at the Mombasa International Airport have been the work of insiders? Staff at the airport speculate the fire could have been the work of some people who want the lounge upgraded and renovated to the same standards as the VIP lounge at JKIA. But more compelling is the failure by the airport fire engines to contain the fire which destroyed the lounge. The question they are now asking is: if the airport fire services could not deal with a fire at the lounge, can they be expected to handle a situation where a plane catches fire?

So will Special Programmes minister Esther Murungi's lead Kenyan women in stripping naked to protest the confirmation of charges against deputy Prime Minister? Remember she issued the threat in mid-May last year. Yesterday, her audience at a HIV/Aids conference were waiting in anticipation as she presented her formal speech. However, none of the people was daring enough to ask her when she will actually do what she threatened. So, can the good lady put the matter to rest by announcing when she will strip or at least apologise to Kenyan women, her constituents if not the country for making such embarassing statements. Or should she not be held to account for her statements?

A top parastatal CEO is engaged in a bitter legal battle with one of his “media advisors' who is demanding Sh15 million as payment for work done. The CEO is in a bind after the advisor gave him seven days to pay the money or be sued. Scared of the implications of a court case, the CEO summoned a few friends who advised him to neutralize the 'advisor" without causing a storm. Consequently, the advisor was arrested and charged with attempted extortion. The matter is yet to be resolved but those in the know say there is more to the incident that just the advisor's demand for payment for services rendered. They believe the advisor has during the time he has been working closely with the CEO gathered enough 'dirt' on the underhand dealings which, if exposed, will 'bury' the CEO.
