The standoff between State Law Office and the Commission charged with overseeing the Implementation of the Constitution continued to gather momentum with the Commission accusing the Attorney General of mis-advising the executive on the implementation process.
In a paid advertisement published in local dailies, CIC accused  Githu Muigai of distorting facts while responding to issues raised by the commission.
"It is irony that the attorney General of the Republic of Kenya should be the face of resistance to clear the provisions of the constitution: that the purveyors of impunity should find comfort and energy in an Attorney General" the statement read.
The Commission last month accused the AG of passing it in tabling bills to Parliament contrary to the Constitution.
The AG dismissed the accusations saying the Commission wants to chew more than it can bite and in its latest response, the commission accuses the AG of wanting to maintain the status quo at the expense of endeavoring to protect and uphold the rule of law.
"CIC does not state lightly, that the attorney General, who is constitutionally obligated to promote, protect, and uphold the rule of law, and who is the principal legal advisor to the government, is an impediment to the implementation of the constitution."
The CIC asked Kenyans to be vigilant in safeguarding the constitution and its implementation.
