Kenyans urged to uphold national unity

President Mwai Kibaki has urged wananchi to remain united and focus on developing their country.
Addressing the congregation after he attended a church service on Sunday at Karima Catholic Church in Othaya, President Kibaki said every Kenyan has a role to play in the realization of the country's national goals.
The President commended the role of the church and other religious organizations in development, especially the promotion of education.
He recalled that he acquire his early childhood education at Karima, a school started by the Catholic Church.
The service was conducted by Father Rev. Elias Gichuki who was assisted by Father James Kihara of the Karima Catholic Parish.
Later, President Kibaki toured various development projects in his Othaya Constituency including the ongoing construction of Othaya Level Four Hospital and road projects.
On Saturday the President asked Kenyans to closely monitor the utilization of public funds to ensure they used for the intended purposes.
Addressing a leaders' meeting in Othaya town President Kibaki said misappropriation of public funds at any level should not be tolerated.
"We should not tolerate the few who misappropriate or misuse public funds. Such people undermine our national development efforts," President Kibaki said.
The President reiterated that the country's development endeavours will not be achieved without the prudent utilization of the available resources.
