Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s wife, Ida Odinga has challenged all Women particularly, members of the Orange Women Democrats League (OWDL) of the ODM to turn out in large numbers and take part in the party’s grassroots elections scheduled for 24th Thursday to Sunday 27th November 2011.
Mrs. Odinga says it is time for the Women, through the OWDL to prove to the rest of the Nation that they can fight for elective positions during the party elections.
“Everyone has the responsibility to exercise their Democratic rights and I urge my fellow women to do exactly that by participating in the ODM grassroots elections,” she says.
Mrs. Odinga told ODM women in the Orange Women Democrats League to be active during the party’s grassroots elections so as to elect leaders who will help steer the party to success especially during the next year’s general election.
“This is the time that we have to elect leaders who will help strengthen our party right from the grassroots level to the National level,” says Mrs. Odinga.
She challenged the League members to ensure they elect trustworthy leaders who are committed to the party and also subscribe to its ideals.
For the first time in the history of Kenya’s politics, ODM will give an opportunity to women through the planned autonomous league, to elect leaders of their choice.
