Saba Saba Asili party is strategising on how to capture all parliamentary seats in Murang’a County  in the next elections. The party  yesterday said it has embarked on a vigorous grassroots campaigns to ensure  the county gets new leaders in the next general election. The party’s national interim deputy treasurer George Gachugu said the county needs leaders committed to addressing the problems, such as rising cost of living, facing  the residents.
Gachugu said the party will front candidates in all the seven constituencies in the county. “In 2012 we want leaders who will change the county towards fulfilling the dreams of our freedom fighters  and our party has aspirants who we shall support next year,” Gachugu said. Current MPs from the county  are the Minister for Environment John Michuki (Kangema), Assistant Minister for planning and Vision 20130 Peter Kenneth (Gatanga), Elias Mbau (Maragua), Muturi Mwangi (Kiharu), Maina Kamau (Kandara), Jamleck Kamau (Kigumo) and Clement Wambugu of Mathioya.
Gachugu accused the MPs of laxity  and failing to unite the electorate. He called on the residents  to kick the MPs out and vote for youthful leaders. “We are tired of our MPs and we are calling voters in this vast county to reject them in 2012,” he said. Gachugu said  it is a shame for Murang’a county leaders to continue backing presidential candidates from other counties while ignoring their own.He said  since Kiambu and Nyeri counties have already produced a president each,  President Kibaki's successor should come from Murang'a. Gachugu condemned  MPs for refusing to pay taxes.
He  urged Kenyans to  lock out selfish and corrupt  leaders in the next elections. He said it is insensitive for the MPsto plot to raise their salaries while poor Kenyans are dying of hunger in North Eastern region while others  languish in adjective poverty. “Majority of Kenyans are living hand to mouth while our selfish MPs are planning to increase their salaries to sh.1.1 million before paying taxes, this means that the poor Kenyans will have to shoulder the burden,” said Gachugu. He said politicians must start minding the welfare on poor Kenyans adding that we should not have a country of 40 billionaires and 40 million poor Kenyan.
