Rising alcohol and drug abuse re a stumbling block for the youths in Gatundu North,  former Limuru MP George Nyanja has said. Nyanja said that most  of the youths in the area are desperate and have turned to drugs due to lack of jobs. He urged  church and political leaders to address the issue fast. " We are losing our youths to drugs.I urge church leaders to intervene and conduct major anti-drug campaigns," said Nyanja.
Speaking at Kamwangi village in Gatundu North where he was promoting local talents among the youths in the area, Nyanja  asked the youths to shun drugs. "If you the youths do not shun drugs, we will not have future leaders," he said. The former MP, who is eyeing the  Kiambu governor post,  told the youth to be wary of politicians who are out to misuse them during the campaigns for  the next elections.
Nyanja told the youths to focus so that they can be future managers. "Leaders whom have been linked to drug trafficking should not be elected in our county as they are a bad example to our youths and community," Nyanja said. Nyanja blamed provincial administration for rampant rampant brews in the area. " I blame the provincial administration in the county for not doing anything to end the brews. They have turned a blind eye to the sellers," he said.
