Leaders from Bomet and Kericho Counties have call on residents to pray for three Ocampo suspect from Rift Valley as they prepare for confirmation hearing at the Hague .Led by Roads Minister Franklin Bett, the leaders urged the residents to use their Sunday services to pray for a safe return by Eldoret North MP William Ruto, Tinderet MP Henry Kosgey and Radio Journalist Joshua Arap Sang.
“They are our brothers and we should take our time to be with them in prayers as they appear at the Hague so that they will go and come back home safely,” said the Bureti MP.
Belgut MP Charles Keter echoed his sentiments saying as a community which the tree suspects come from it is a responsibility to take time and pray so that they come back.
He said, the three were innocent and they were just sacrificed for no reason saying the truth and their innocence will set them free.
“I know it is painful because all the three are from our community but with our prayers they will be set free, after all we know they are carrying a burden which is not theirs,” said Keter.
They were speaking at Cheboin Village in Bureti Constituency during the burial of six family members who died which was attended by Eldoret North MP William Ruto.
While addressing the mourners William Ruto appealed for prayers saying only prayers will relief him and other suspects of their burden.
“Some of us are like Paul and Sila in the Bible, the only difference is that we will not reach the cells because will emerge the victors in court and the devil will be ashamed,” said Ruto.
At the same time, Ruto renewed his scathing attacks on ODM top leadership over alleged letters written to Ocampo to have him and other suspects detain at The Hague.
“Do not forget to pray for ODM leaders so that they will not write other letters to The Hague this time round to have some of us arrested and detain there for malicious reasons,” The Eldoret North MP said.
Home Affairs Assistant Minister Beatrice Kones, Sotik, MP Joyce Laboso, Kuresoi MP Zakayo Cheruiyot and Former Bureti MP Paul Sang who were at the funeral also pledge their solidarity with the three as they go before the ICC early next month.
