Kamukunji MP-elect Yusuf Hassan has pledged to lobby government agencies to stop harassing Muslims. Hassan, who last Thursday clinched the hotly-contested seat and is expected to be sworn in later this week, promised that despite striving hard to serve the Kamukunji people, he will also focus on changing the perception in government on Islam and its faithful. “I am the MP for all residents of Kamukunji and have to serve them equally but l will also remain steadfast in championing Muslims rights before the end of my term next year.
I will work hard to make sure those government operatives who have been unnecessarily harassing Muslims stop,” he said yesterday at Jamia Mosque Nairobi shortly before Jumaah prayers. He also called on his key rival ODM's Ibrahim Mohammed alias Johnny to join him as they embark on transforming the constituency and the fight for Muslims rights.
