Prime Minister Raila Odinga recruits new spokesman

PRIME Minister Raila Odinga has now hired former TV presenter Louis Otieno as his official communication advisor and spokesman.

Otieno joined the Office of the Prime Minister on Monday and is poised to take over responsibilities previously docketed under assistant director of communications Denis Onyango who will now play relegated roles at OPM.

Otieno’s unexpected arrival at the OPM caused panic among key aides who have been handling the PM who have been accused of mishandling the media.

The seasoned TV  journalists is expected to play a major role in helping the PM reclaim his battered media image on the eve of an election year.

A senior official at the Office of the Prime Minister told Kenyaradarlive  that Otieno who has been on an official diplomatic handling training in the UK will now head the PM media advisory together with being in charge of press liaison at the OPM.

The official has been allocated a s special office at the fourth floor of the OPM building where he will discharge his responsibilities.

Otieno was recruited following complaint by journalists and members of the public on the diminishing visibility of the Prime Minister attributed to poor media handling by his advisors.

Raila is poised to strengthen his media team after assigning his  former spokesman Salim Lone key international roles.

Otieno quit the citizen two years ago before joining K24 where he was sacked for gross misconduct.
