ODM THE MOST COMPLIANT PARTY, SAYS THE AUDITOR.

The Orange Democratic Movement –ODM has been certified by the Audit Office as a party that is fully compliant with the provisions and requirements of the Political Parties Act.
The Kenya National Audit Office (KENAO) says, 44 political parties may be deregistered for failing to comply with the Law.
According to KENAO, only ODM, the Social Democratic Party-SDP and the National Labour Party of Kenya have complied with the Political Parties Act.
In a letter to the Registrar of Political Parties Mrs. Lucy Ndung’u, KENAO wants her to notify the 44 political parties of their duties and obligations in complying with the Law.
The parties are said to have failed to supply the Controller and Auditor General with audited accounts of the finances and how they spend the money provided to them by the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties.
The parties are also accused of failing to provide supporting documents for the 2009/2010 Financial Year.
The parties that face deregistration include President Kibaki’s PNU, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka’s ODM-Kenya, Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s KANU and Gichugu MP Martha Karua’s Narc-Kenya among others.
ODM has since the coming into force of the Political Parties Act been compliant with all the requirements of the Act and it has never failed to submit its audited accounts of the Party.
