A Kenyan was killed in London as he attempted to stop theft of his delivery van.
Charles Bunyasi, 49, was crushed under the rear wheels as he ran back to the vehicle and tried to stop it speeding off in Coulsdon, South London.
According to one of his relatives in Kenya, Bunyasi, a father of three, doubled as a council worker but delivered goods on weekends for extra income.
Mr Bunyasi had parked his van in the suburban road in Coulsdon while he delivered wine to a house when the Saturday incident occurred.
According to the media in the United Kingdom, an eye witness told police Mr Bunyasi attempted to open his van’s passenger door as the thief sped off.
He died in hospital of serious head injuries six hours after he was run over on Saturday with his wife Seraphine, 45, at his bedside.
According to South London police report, CCTV footage shows the thief drove up in a blue van as Mr Bunyasi was making his delivery on foot. He parked a few feet in front of the van before leaping into its driver seat and started the engine.
This is the time Mr Bunyasi rushed to stop the thief only to be run over.
A 28-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in connection with the incident and a second man was held on Monday. The white van was found on Sunday night a few miles from the crime scene.
