While fighting for developers in sprawling Embakasi and warning of bloodshed should buildings without the requisite approvals be demolished, assistant minister Ferdinand Waititu is said to have asked Town Clerk Philip Kisia to secretly accompany him in a heavily tinted vehicle to the illegal developments to show him who owns the buildings. Our source tells us that Kisia was told the most illegal skyscrapers are owned by PSs, PCs, OCPDs and other senior government officials. Kisia however turned down the overture, saying Waititu showed took him round the tour in broad daylight.

A former city MP has gone underground after swindling a motor dealer in the city's Eastland’s area of Sh58, 000. The former mheshimiwa, who is said to be struggling financially, told the reputed mechanic along Rabai Road to repair a Toyota Landcruiser belonging to Jogoo Road Police Station which had stalled. After the GK vehicle had been repaired, repainted and installed with new spare parts, the former MP refused to pick calls from the owner of the garage and pay the debt. The motor dealer told his close associates that the electorate will punish the politician if he dares vie for any political seat next year.

Civil society leaders who have noted this craze whispered it to corridors and wondered whether the insistence on being referred to as a professor adds any ugali in the lawyer’s sufuria.

An organization which is affiliated to the government has formed a bad habit of “screaming invitations” to journalists to attend their press conferences and events. The organization which has in the past enjoyed huge public limelight due to media attention it receives is now on the throes of being “blacklisted” in the media for alleged fraud which basically entails conning journalists into attending their events only to realize the subject matter is different from the one in the invitation letter.
