Uhuru, Ruto in Muranga

Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta  and Eldoret North MP William Ruto on Sunday traversed Murang'a county, a day after pitching tent in Meru.

The two leaders who are expected to appear before the International Criminal Court at The Hague to answer to post-election violence charges, are adamant that this will not in any way deter them from pursuing their political ambitions.

And as usual, the ICC summonses against them and four other suspected masterminds of the 2007-2008 post election chaos remained the main theme of their meetings.

The two  are accompanied by a host of MPs allied to them. Uhuru expressed optimism that the charges against him will be dropped.

Ruto on his part lashed at the Orange Democratic Movement accusing the party of failing to adhere to democracy.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Service Ambassador Francis Muthaura maintains he is confident that his name will be cleared.

Muthaura says he only did what he was supposed to do to prevent the chaos from escalating and spreading to other parts of the country.

Speaking in Embu, Muthaura likened his situation to a fire-fighter who battles to put out a fire all night only to be arrested in the morning, accused of arson.

Muthaura said he believes in the rule of law and exuded confidence that he will have no problem proving his innocence.
