Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto said they would defy the order by the National Cohesion and Reconciliation Commission (NCIC) to stop abusing Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
They criticised NCIC chairman Mzalendo Kibunjia for warning them yet he has not taken any action against Raila. They claimed Raila had continued to associate them with the Kikukyu, Kamba and Kalenjin (KKK) alliance.
"Kibunjia says we should stop using abusive language, but Raila has been abusing us also. And when we respond he writes us.
We are responding because someone did not do his job," Uhuru said, at Matopeni Primary School in Embakasi.
"The other day he called us drunkards, thieves, and bhang smokers. Instead of Kibunjia writing to Raila, he writes to Uhuru and me. Let us now continue to talk so that the letter can have justification," Ruto said.
They vowed to support the deferral of the cases at the International Criminal Court, where they are accused of crimes against humanity.
"You cannot lust for power without a reform agenda. You cannot solve problems of poverty and unemployment and ensuring Kenya moves forward in implementing the Constitution if you always ensure there are conflicts," Uhuru said.
The leaders said they would not allow Uhuru, Ruto, and others to be taken to The Hague.
Fourteeen MPs vowed to support the deferral of the cases forwarded to the International Criminal Court.
Among MPs who expressed their support for the unity between Uhuru, Ruto and Kalonzo and ICC deferral were Johnstone Muthama, Joseph Gitari, Mahmud Hussein, Benjamin Langat, Moses Lesonet, Jamlek Kamau John Mututho, Mahmud Abdi, Luis Nguyai and Beth Mugo.
