Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga!

By. Ritchie

Fellow Kenyans, considering the fact that one of the leaders running for presidency includes one Raila Amollo Odinga as running for the presidency come 2012, let us separate the wheat from the chaff as regards this presidential candidate, my list includes “Raila failures”, please read on:

Raila's leadership has to be questioned. The man has a problem if he is not flip flopping, lying, he is double speaking! How come there is always trouble and disagreement where he is involved .That says something about the man .We can’t blame other leaders its time Luos took a hard look at the kind of leaders they chose to represent them cases in example:

1. Original FORD-Raila and his father refusing to support Masinde Muliro
2. FORD-Kenya-Raila clashing and disagreeing with Kijana Wamalwa
3. NDP-trouble with NDP Founder eventually kicked out by Raila
4. KANU-Raila disagreeing with Moi.
5. NARC-Raila disagreeing with Kibaki.
6. ODM -Raila disagreeing with Kalonzo
7. ODM - Raila disagreeing with Ruto
8. ODM -Balala walks out of ODM, a party he helped found
9. ODM- Ngilu silently abandons the party and goes silent on issues touching on ODM.
10. ODM- Riftvalley Mps silently walks out of ODM in disagreement on how the
Party was being run.

You can't tell us that everyone has a problem but Raila, that all those politicians were bad and that Raila has always been right .what kind of leadership would Raila bring to Kenya if he cant agree with anyone .With him its always my way or the highway, that is not the kind of leader that Kenya needs .In as much as we need a strong leader we need a leader who is able to listen to other leaders and what the country is saying .Raila is simply not that man. As the rest of Africa is doing away with dictators why should we be rushing to create one?

Yes the Luo community has been marginalized but it has been marginalized by Raila for his own selfish goals and ambitions. There is desperation in Raila's Luos supporters for a Luo presidency that has led to the kind of crude and ugly tribalism we see on facebook
Raila and his sycophants and hecklers cannot campaign on Raila's record of failure and the record happens to be a long one.

1.Raila as an MP has failed Kibera under his leadership it has become the largest and worst slum in Africa. Kibera's dirt and squalor are now an international tourist attraction. The only time he ever visits the place is to politick with the likes of Ngumo and the likes of Otieno Kajwang!

2.In Bondo and Luo Nyanza while Raila held sway as the undisputed king of the Luo poverty multiplied and Nyanza became the second poorest province in Kenya. This situation has only improved during Kibaki's tenure Nyanza is rebounding due to the efforts of Kibaki while Raila is Happy politicking everyday and opposing the government even on trivial issues.

3.Raila has meddled with the Luo council of elders and hand picked and installed a disputed leader to head the council

4.Raila record includes failed campaigns for president,

5.A failed coup an attempt to install a Luo dictatorship on Kenyans.

6.Then Raila is dogged by a corrupt past. Stolen money from Luo thrift, he swindled Luos out of Luo union money and Kisumu development trust funds.

7.Raila corruptly obtained a molasses plant by selling out Luos to Moi.

8.Raila when he was given the energy ministry impoverished Kenyans by swindling billions of shillings with his Nigerian buddies most of which went to the Nigerians. Raila even failed in his corruption ventures and was cheated by the Nigerians out of the bulk of the skimmed money.

9.Of note is the fact that Raila family has interests in Petroleum products and bordering on the triton scandal, Raila involvement is suspect as the only known photo of Yagnes Devani was taken with Raila, and again Raila traveling to India to meet the man despite the corruption and theft allegations surrounding the suspect, this is as to what happened:

Towards the end of 2008, Kenyans were forced to grapple with an unreliable supply of fuel and artificial rise in its pricing. On more than one occasion, the Managing Director of the National Oil Pipeline Mr. George Okungu gave widely televised interviews to reassure Kenyans that there was no fuel shortage or crisis as such in the country. But between December 28 and 29th, December 2008 most filling stations upcountry had no fuel to supply to the motorists. Workers returning from Holiday, particularly those travelling from Western Kenya back to the City got briefly stranded in Kisumu and other towns. During the same period, a medium sized oil firm called Triton Limited, which is run by Kenyan of Asian origin, Mr. Yagnes Devani and another trader Mr. Pankaj Somaia was reported to have allegedly rendered legally bankrupt, suddenly appeared in the oil trading scene.
The duo, have their roots in the lakeside Kenyan City of Kisumu and it is in Chemelil area within the Nyanza sugar belt, where the first few Triton Limited outlets were set up. What was most intriguing is that in-spite of its definite inability to source and service the largest oil order in the country, Triton Ltd, is alleged to have secured the government tender to purchase national oil supplies for a six month quota through the alleged intervention of the Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who is said to have personal and family interests in the oil industry as a major player.: Yagnes Devani is the brother to the late Harish Devani who owned the multimillion complex, Simmers Plaza in a Nairobi suburbs of Westland’s, but alleged to have committed suicide a couples of years ago after swindling those close to former President Daniel Arap Moi billions of shillings in tenders scams supplies at the Kenyan Ports Authority {KPA}and Kenya Power and Lighting Company {KPLC} Yagnes Devani is a well known drug addict, but he was allowed to do roaring business with the KPA!. Indeed Triton Ltd had no capacity, to deliver on such a huge consignment of oil to the nation, but immediately after securing the government tender set upon sub-contracting the same to its rivals companies at a profit without any actual direct importation,
In addition, Triton Ltd, according to the report was that oil suppliers refused to give in to the Tritons sordid machinations, and this is what caused the brief artificial fuel shortage in Kenya, which in turn raised the fuel prices even much higher... To compound the saga, Afri Global Ltd, a firm belonging to Raila Odinga elder brother Dr. Oburu Odinga MP who is the Finance Assistant Minister and which is run by Dr. Odinga’s son a pint sized fellow called Elijah Abonyo Oburu was one of the key beneficiaries. After this scam Elijah Oburu had since bought a brand new show room Mercedes Benz limousine 350 valued at colossal amount of Kshs 24 million which he now drives around Kisumu City...
Another firm, African Oils Ltd, which belongs to the Prime Ministers son Fidel Castro Raila Odinga, was also occasioned adequate favor to profiteer from the scandal. And not to be out done was the Prime Minister himself with his company Bakri Ltd, operated by one Mr. Mike Njeru who joined the lists of compliant firms that allegedly benefited from the tender pool sharing and in turn sold the same to the highest bidder!.
Raila Odinga’s younger sister Adhiambo is the managing director of the Petro Plus firm that has been involved in bulk oil sales in the high seas, a host received from Nigeria thanks to the closeness of the Prime Minister with the former ruler Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo. Libya and Southern Sudan government as donations to finance democratic pursuits in Kenya. Of note is Raila many visits to Nigeria,

So entrenched is the Odinga family interests in the oil industry the players advise that it is practically impossible to do serious oil business in Kenya without roping in a family member. At the centre of the scheme, is Pankaj Somaia, a wheeler-dealer in the Moi regime era and alleged wanted in various countries for questioning on an array of criminal activities.
In any oil sale scheme of the magnitude, Triton Ltd dabbed in the returns, kick-backs included run into hundreds of million of shillings.
It is widely rumored that Devani heavily funded 2007 general campaign for ODM team and that those who benefited by Devani funding were only returning a favor in the form of triton contract to buy fuel.
Indeed the grapevine has it that some senior Ministers in the grand coalition cabinet drive vehicles donated by Devani early this year. It is also an open secret that two MPs have been on Devani payroll ostensibly so that they extend favors for their benefactors as and when needed.Mr. Devani himself is said to be holed up in some undisclosed destination abroad, but he keep in constant touch with the Prime Minister through one called Collins Odhiambo [formerly of Citi Bank}, and up to sometime back Triton Ltd, commercial director.
Mr. Odhiambo was said to be in big panic since Triton Ltd, went burst and placed under the official receivers as in the case with an array of high placed personalities in the government.
Another employee who took cover only before the take-over of Triton Ltd, is a Mr. Kioko who was in charge of the firms operations at the KPA in the Kenyan port city of Mombasa.
Immigration Minister Gerald Otieno Kajwang who was also a regular visitor in Devani office together with his personal assistant{PA} was said to be working day and night to cover up five senior employees of Asian extractions who were irregularly employed by Triton Ltd when it was operating.

10.Also of note is Raila's family was involved in maize scandal, as claimed in the US cables which Wiki leaks claim Prime Minister Raila Odinga attempted to suspend former Agriculture Minister William Ruto to divert attention from his family’s involvement in the Sh2 billion maize scam.

Secret cables alleged Raila wanted to create confusion when he said he was suspending Ruto and Education Minister Sam Ongeri. It claims Raila wanted public debate to focus on the two, and not his family’s role in the scandal.

"We have credible reports that members of Odinga’s family, presumably with his knowledge and/or involvement, were involved in the maize scandal. Thus, at the time he made his dramatic February 14 statements, Odinga was facing serious pressures on both the corruption and constitutional review issues," wrote Ranneberger.

"It seems highly possible that Odinga made the announcement regarding Ongeri and Ruto knowing that it would cause a huge political and constitutional flap, and then divert focus on both the corruption and constitutional review issues.

Alternatively, Odinga may have miscalculated that he could ‘roll’ Kibaki to go along with his actions because Kibaki would not want to be seen as supporting ministers tainted by corruption."

On Raila’s leadership, the ambassador says there is increasing disillusionment in the ODM camp, although he says critics’ views that he is in a weakened position: "The ODM seems both directionless and less united than before."

The cable also revealed Ranneberger concerns over delays to the constitution-making process, after Raila raised objections to contentious issues that had been agreed on in the Naivasha meetings. Raila was opposed to a presidential system of government as agreed upon by a parliamentary select committee, in which his party and interests were represented. It says on February 12, soon after the agreement was clinched, the US Embassy learnt that Raila had held a meeting with advisers on renegotiating provisions on the contentious issues.

When Ranneberger called Raila, he confirmed this was the case, saying the PSC had exceeded its mandate.

"How could Odinga walk away from the agreement when Odinga’s top people are in the PSC and participated in the meetings under instructions from Odinga?" the Ambassador asked.

"Odinga had no response to this, but nevertheless insisted that key provisions must be reopened," continues the cable.

Ranneberger warned that the differences were causing ethnic tension, which could give rise to violence.

11.Another will be failure, is his selfish stand on Hague! Every one saw him sweat when asked in parliament why he is so keen to condemn the same people who got him in the position he has, and a violence he propagated! Reminds me of the saying that a drowning man will gasp onto anything! Even if it's a straw! Some of us can see beyond the "Hague" thing and its all about selfish politics! Wake up people and smell the coffee!

12.Therefore Raila and his desperate Luo sycophants can only campaign by trying to tear down Kibaki. They spread lies that Kibaki has done nothing. They deny obvious development. They gnash their teeth and cry over economic development claiming they are not getting their share.

13.Then Raila and his Luo sycophants are trying to create a tsunami of hate in Kenya against Kikuyus and Kalenjin with lies and propaganda. Hoping that if Kenyans are split into tribal cocoons Raila will stand a chance of bringing the presidency to Luos. This same agenda was witnessed during 2005 referendum and also the hate against the Kikuyu community that spread to 2007 elections and later culminated to the post elections violence. I can only say this there are many good and honest Luos who disagree with Raila's strategy. Hatred will not propel Raila or Luos to the presidency. As we will simply get another Raila failure.

The bad blood and tribalism that Raila planted and continues to propagate will live on long after he is defeated. This tsunami of tribalism is bad for Luos, bad for Kikuyus dad for Kalenjins, dad for the Kamba’s and bad for all Kenyans.

In general failure is Raila's legacy.
