Leaders fault Raila's call for FBI probe

By TITUS TOOLeaders have criticised Prime Minister Raila Odinga's calls to have foreign bodies to investigate post-election violence.
The leaders who included Tourism Minister Najib Balala, Livestock Assistant Minister Aden Duale, MPs William Ruto and Isaac Ruto (Chepalungu) said Kenyans should have faith with their own systems.
"People are obsessed with foreign values and issues including the ICC, which cannot solve our problems," said Mr Balala.
The MPs said such attempts would undermine Kenya and dent its international standing.
Balala said when the country was in a crisis after post-election violence, foreigners including investors were packing to leave.
"Most embassies were even sounding warnings to have the number of their nationals coming to the country minimised," he said.
He wondered why the US, Russia and China could dictate to Kenyans yet they have not subscribed to the Rome Statute.
The leaders were speaking during the Eldoret West District education and prize-giving day at Bishop Delany Secondary School in Ruto’s Eldoret North constituency on Thursday.
OutsourcingThe Prime Minister proposed the Federal Bureau of Investigations and Scotland Yard be involved in investigating post-election violence.
"Outsourcing police services amounts to disrespecting our own systems," said the Eldoret North MP.
Added Ruto: "I am ODM deputy party leader but it has been hijacked by opportunists. It has been turned into a cult and the rest is history."
Duale said some ODM leaders were misusing resources and positions to sacrifice others including Ruto and party Chairman Henry Kosgey.
"Some of these leaders now say they did not trust the police force yet the same institution is providing them with bodyguards," he said.
The Chepalungu MP said threatening to expel some MPs from ODM for speaking their minds amounts to dictatorship in the party.
He said Kenya was not a failed state.
"That is why we have a President, a Prime Minister and Parliament hence we can handle our own affairs," he said.
