Environment Minister John Michuki had a bad day in Parliament on Wednesday.
The minister was, in the morning session, censured in the House for his role in the Artur brothers’ scandal.
In the afternoon, he was kicked out of Parliament for breach of Standing Orders (House rules).
Mr Michuki’s censure came as Parliament adopted the report of a parliamentary inquiry into the conduct of the Artur brothers.
The report noted that the minister should not hold any public office but should be prosecuted for spearheading the infamous Standard raid and calling it a “government operation”.
Grossly out of order
House Speaker Kenneth Marende added to the minister’s woes when he kicked him out of the House after he strolled to his seat while the Speaker was on his feet.
“You are grossly out of order. The rules are clear that if the Speaker is on his feet, all honourable members must freeze,” said Mr Marende.
Mr Michuki walked to the door then back to his seat further angering the Speaker.
The minister was ordered to leave the House despite his pleas that he had not walked in out of disrespect.”
