Karua rejects opinion poll as biased to suit vested interests

Gichugu MP Martha Karua has dismissed last week's opinion polls on performance of MPs in Parliament as biased.
She claimed they were designed to manipulate public opinion in favour of a particular individual.
Ms Karua alleged that some of the pollsters were either owned or funded by interested parties.
"When you look at the methodology used by the pollsters, the questions they ask are leading and can only be said to be vague," said she.
Karua, whose popularity was rated at 5 per cent by the polls among five other politicians with presidential ambitions, said such polls should be open and transparent for Kenyans to have faith in them.
Speaking to The Standard on the telephone, Karua said the pollsters should have provided more information to the public to interrogate and make an informed opinion.
"As far as I’m concerned these results provided to the public in order to influence opinion are illogical and should be dismissed with the contempt they deserve," said she.
On the internally displaced persons (IDPs), Karua said the gesture by the Government to give them a Christmas treat was welcome.
However, she said the IDPs should not be made to depend on the Government since they have the potential to be self-reliant if only they could be settled on their own land.
"For three consecutive Christmas seasons, these IDPs have been at their tented camps and it’s only this particular time we are seeing a display of State benevolence. We are demanding their immediate resettlement once and for all," said Karua.
