PSS REINSTATED

President Mwai Kibaki Thursday reinstated four Permanent Secretaries suspended over graft allegations in their ministries.

The President at the same time announced a reshuffle affecting other Permanent Secretaries.

In a statement the President said he had reinstated Permanent Secretaries Karega Mutahi, Romano Kiome, Mohamed Isahakia and Ali Mohamed after completion of investigations by the anti-graft body.

Former Education PS Karega moves to Local Government in the same capacity replacing Sammy Kirui who was suspended over the Nairobi City Council cemetery scandal and whose fate is yet to be known.

Mohammed who was the PS for Special Programmes moves to the Ministry of Environment and his place taken by Andrew Mondoh who has been the acting PS in the Office of the Prime Minister.

Isahakia and Kiome retain their positions at the office of the Prime Minister and Agriculture ministry respectively.

PM's private Secretary Caroli Omondi was also reinstated.

Other PSs affected are Prof James Ole Kiyiapi who is the new Education PS while his position at the Medical Services Ministry will be taken up by Ms Mary Ngari who was previously the PS for Northern Kenya and other Arid Lands.

Dr Kibicho Karanja has been appointed PS in the Ministry of Industrialization. He was previously chairman department of mechanical engineering, at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

Prof John Lonyangapuo takes over from Ms Leah Gwiyo as Public works PS. Gwiyo is the new Tourism PS replacing Rebecca Nabutola who is on suspension over graft.
