KIBAKI IS BACK

President Mwai Kibaki returned home this evening from Johannesburg , South Africa where he attended the opening ceremony of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The plane carrying President Kibaki and his entourage touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) shortly before 6.00 p.m.

The President was received by Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka, Internal Security Minister Prof. George Saitoti, Chief of General Staff Gen. Jeremiah Kianga and Internal Security Permanent Secretary Francis Kimemia among other senior Government officials.

Thereafter, President Kibaki inspected a colourful guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the Kenya Army before he was entertained by choirs and groups of cultural dancers.

While in South Africa , President Kibaki also met and addressed Kenyans resident in the country. The President, once again, expressed his support for the Proposed Constitution and urged Kenyans to accommodate divergent views as they debate the proposed new law.
