EU PRAISE

The European Union Delegation has praised Kenya's leadership for its swift action in launching investigations to apprehend the culprits behind the blasts at Uhuru Park on Sunday.

EU Head of Delegation Eric van der Linden commended President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga for acting fast in instituting investigations.

"It is every body's interest that the perpetrators are brought to book sooner rather than later," he said.

The envoy who spoke at a press conference called for responsible talk from politicians as they try to woo Kenyans to their side.

He said the reform agenda for the country is crucial and inflammatory statement should not be tolerated ahead of the August 4 referendum.

Van der Linden said whereas it was not in the interest of foreigners to lecture Kenyans on what to do about the reforms agenda, it would be a futile effort if the situation degenerates further than it already has following the grenade attacks.
