AT LARGE

Police have commenced investigations into Sunday Uhuru Park grenade attack on a prayer meeting organised by the "No" campaign that left six people dead and 104 injured.
Speaking Tuesday at a press conference at Police Headquarters in Nairobi, Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere said detectives were piecing together clues on what happened and possible motives for the attacks.

The probe team comprises officers from Bomb Disposal Forensic experts, Anti-terrorism Police Unit, the Criminal Intelligence Unit and the Nairobi area Command who the police boss said were currently focusing at identifying the persons responsible for the crime.

Iteere said police have also opened four other reporting centers to speed up the investigations and called on any person with the information regarding the incident to report to the nearest police station.

He however warned the public to avoid speculation and wait for police to complete investigations.

Police have also offered 500,000 shillings to anybody who will give information leading to the arrest of the culprits.

Iteere at the same time put on notice those who preach hatred during the referendum campaigns.

He assured that an elaborate security plan has been put in place to check hate speech during campaigns on the proposed constitution.
