NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 16 - Police have shot dead four suspected gangsters who allegedly killed a traffic policeman on the Nairobi-Naivasha highway early Wednesday morning.
The suspects were pursued from Kinungi trading centre where they had ambushed the Highway Patrol officer, before they were cornered at Ruaka shopping centre on the outskirts of Nairobi.
Police said they have recovered six guns from the suspects.
Witnesses say a by-stander suffered gunshot wounds during the fierce exchange of fire between police and the suspects.
In another incident, a policeman has been found dead near South C flyover in Nairobi.
Embakasi police boss David Bunei said they suspect the officer was murdered elsewhere before his body was dumped in the area.
