Kenya is set to host the South-South Cooperation Summit which will be held in Nairobi in December 2009.
The three day summit to be held from 1st -3rd, follows a spirited campaign by Kenyan delegates at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
It also comes against the backdrop of major UN conferences and summits on economic, social and related fields including the DOHA Declaration on Financing for Development, the Havana Program of Action which was adopted in the first South Summit on the Marakesh Framework for the implementation of South -South Cooperation.
The summit will accord Kenya the privilege of advancing the key economic development issues including the topical concerns on environment.
The conference will also lay a foundation for the position of the South in the build up to the Copenhagen Summit on Climate Change which is scheduled for 7th-18th December 2009.
Kenya is already working with the Special Unit for South-South Cooperation in preparation for the conference
