Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has said he supports the calls for referendum. He said he support the governors’ move to raise the counties' road allocations to 40 percent. "This one I have to say that I am supporting it hundred percent and that we will forge ahead," Kalonzo said.
He was speaking at the homecoming party of Mwingi Central ward representative Bennered Mwangangi at Kalisasi Primary school, Kitui. Kalonzo was accompanied by governor Julius Malombe and Mwingi West MP Bennered Kitungi. He thanked Makueni residents for their support for the Wiper party.
“For the first time, a Wiper candidate got 92 percent of the total votes cast despite what happened to his name and photo in the ballot papers,” said Kalonzo. He asked residents Cord remains united in its quest for a true and just society.
Kalonzo told the county assembly to pass a bill to on environmental conservation. He said , if passed into law, residents will be held responsible for any environmental polution. "The use of permanent ink on our walls is like economic sabotage," said Kalonzo.
He said that the locals should be careful because there is an ongoing economic sabotage. He said there is no way 50 charcoal producers can make tents at Engamba area cutting trees in discriminatively. He said he is blaming the local authority starting with the Deputy County Commissioners. He said he has not heard any arrest and this should stop immediately.
“Can you imagine people have been sent all the way from Matuu to come and destroy our environment? Why can’t they cut in their locality? As far as I know the burn on charcoal has never been lifted. Sand harvesting is also illegal,” said Kalonzo.
