A woman was yesterday fined Sh10,000 for pinching and slapping her neighbours’ son.
Mercy Mugambi was found guilty of assaulting the boy on July 7 last year at Majimbo estate in Embu West district.
Embu chief magistrate Margaret Wachira said the prosecution had proven that the suspect committed the offence.
The boy was playing with other children when Mugambi pinched and slapped him.
Mugambi asked the boy to tell his mother, who was at work, that she could not do anything to help him.
The boy told his mother who reported the matter to the police. Wachira said Mugambi should pay Sh10,000 or be jailed for four months.
Meanwhile, the hearing of a case in which a policeman has been charged with assisting five criminals to escape has been set for September 18.
Jackson Kitili denied being bribed to help them escape. It is alleged that he helped them escape on October 14, 2011.
