Corridors of Power

Staff at one of the state corporations whose boss was unsuccessful in being appointed a principal secretary are celebrating. The staff accuse the man of using unfair tactics to increase salaries, nepotism and sacking of any employee who dares request a salary review. The celebratory party is going down this week at a venue yet to be disclosed.

While some are celebrating the failure of some of the principal secretary candidates to get appointed, two top officials of a state institution involved in writing the reports on the suitability and credibility of the nominees have been congratulating themselves for cutting short the ambitions of an official of one of the commissions who had hoped to be appointed.

Two men who played key roles during President Uhuru Kenyatta's election campaigns are reportedly at loggerheads, The two who usually pen columns in the local dailies have taken to denigrating each other by claiming the other was 'semi-digital'a nd not full-digital. It seems this is their way of getting the attention of the president who will hopefully appoint them to 'something' in government.

Nurses at a women's ward in one of the city's top hospitals have been put on notice by the matron — no speaking Kiswahili in the ward or face the sack. The nurses are now at a loss as they do not know whether to insist addressing their patients and their relatives in English even though many of them are not fluent or do not speak it at all! They say that attempts to get their concerns addressed have gone nowhere as the matron seems to have bamboozled all the top officials including the hospital CEO.
