Voter registration POSTPONED ….. Will elections be on March

Tuesday, the 6th of November 2012 -The Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has postponed the voter registration process that was to begin on the 12th of November to a future date that will be announced later.

The IEBC said it was forced to postpone the date for registering voters due to the need to ensure that it has trained its 29,000 clerks well enough to conduct the process without any hitches.

This postponement – well advised or not – is bound to feed rumours that there are forces working to ensure that elections don’t take place on March 4th as planned.

This is the third time that the voter registration date has been moved. It was previously supposed to take place in October before it was pushed to early November and then mid-November. The first two postponements were due to delays in acquisition of Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits
