UHURU KENYATTA did NOT donate 85 million to Romney’s campaign

Thursday, the 8th of November 2012 -The Kenyan DAILY POST has gone the extra mile to prove that the rumour doing the rounds that Uhuru Kenyatta donated Ksh 85 million to Mitt Romney’s campaign is nothing but a boldface lie.

US Federal Election Campaign Law flatly forbids any candidate from receiving campaign donations from a person who is not a citizen of the US.

“441e. Contributions and donations by foreign nationals (a) Prohibition. It shall be unlawful for— (1) a foreign national, directly or indirectly, to make— (A) a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value, or to make an express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation, in connection with a Federal, State, or local election.”

Last time we checked Uhuru is not a US citizen and therefore qualifies as ‘foreign national’ under the US Federal Election Campaign Law. The TNA presidential aspirant therefore could not have donated the 85 million shillings to the Romney campaign as alleged by some quarters.

Word is that this particular rumour emitted from a member of the Friends of Raila lobby group a.k.a FORA. If this is true then it’s regrettable and shameful. Propagandist distortions will take us nowhere other than the hell of the 2007 post election violence.
