Police identify AL SHABAAB’S hiding areas in Kenya

Sunday, the 18th of November 2012 -The Anti-Terrorism Police Unit has identified several areas in the country where Kenyan youths returning from training in Al Shabaab training camps have taken refuge. The areas include Mombasa, Lamu, South Coast, Garissa and Isiolo.

According to Boniface Mwaniki, the head of the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) the number of Kenyan youths that have received training from the Al Shabaab terror outfit are in their thousands.

Mwaniki however added that he and his charges had so far chalked up several successes in rounding up the potential terrorists in Garissa and Mombasa.

Their latest success story is the arrest of Khubeib Aboud Rogo, 17, the son of slain Mombasa cleric Aboud Rogo. According to Kimani, Khubeib also received training in terror tactics from the Al Shabaab;

“What we know is that this man was from Somalia. They trained together and the father left him there and returned to pick more recruits. He was left there to lead by example,” said Mwaniki.

Khubeib was arrested together with Swaleh Abdulmajit, Swaleh Ali alias Ronaldo, Bilal Gaitho, Juma Musa alias Chidi, Hashim Yassir and Mzee Suleiman.

Police last week asked a Mombasa court to be allowed to detain Khubeib for seven days so that can gather more information to prevent terror attacks in Mombasa and Nairobi. The court approved the request.
