Nyatike MP Edick Anyanga was on Thursday night attacked by unknown persons at Namba Nyakwere centre while visiting his constituency.
The assailants stoned the legislator's vehicle at 8:30pm as he headed home from a meeting in Muhuru beach.
The youths are said to have singled out Mr Anyanga's car, which was in a convoy of 10 vehicles.
“This attack has been instigated by my political adversaries who have resorted to primitive politics fearing defeat,” said Anyanga while recording a statement at Lwanda Police Post.
Mr Anyanga claims he restrained his bodyguards from pursuing the youths who disappeared into the shopping centre during the attack.
Political unrest in Namba Nyakwere centre was also reported during the last General election in 2007.
Nyatike Police boss Richard Bitonga said they had dispatched detectives to the scene for investigations.
Mr Bitonga said an area Chief is also under investigation over the incident.
A list of people suspected to have participated in the attack has been forwarded to the police.
