Education minister Mutula Kilonzo will launch his campaign for senator tomorrow at Wote town in Makueni county. "I have personally drafted invitational letters to all senate hopefuls including those competing against me for the Makueni seat," said the Wiper secretary general.
Mutula said he is assembling a team of dedicated volunteers to help make 'Mutula for senator' a reality. He called for his supporters to back him through their time, donations and issues they feel he should address.
The launch will start with a road show from Chumbi town to Machakos, Muumandu, Kola, Kivani, Kyambalasi, Mukuyuni, Ukia, Kilala, Itangini and culminate in a rally at Wote town.
Lands minister James Orengo, a Siaya senator aspirant, is among those who will attend the launch. Mutula said he is inspired by visionary and transformational leadership to rive policies devoid of political affiliation with emphasis on wealth creation, resource mobilisation, inspiring youth, infrastructure development and equitable distribution of resources.
The education minister said having facilitated the new constitution in 2010 as the Justice minister, he will fight for its implementation in full and make Makueni a model county.
Mutula's goals include developing education policies on pre-primary education, village polytechnics, home craft centres, child care facilities, tertiary institutions and universities.
"Establishment of broadband internet connection through fiber optic cable for schools to go into E-learning and open business opportunities which is in line with modern technology and vision 2030 is among my visions," he said. The Mbooni MP will face it off with agriculture assistant minister Gedion Ndambuki and Kilome MP John Harun Mwau.
