Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi has cautioned Kenyans against emerging political alliances as he sought the support of the vote-rich Rift Valley in his State House bid.
At the same time, the UDF leader opposed the scrapping of the provincial administration under the new system of devolved government which comes into place after the next elections.
Speaking on Friday at various market centres in Baringo County, Mr Mudavadi said that alliances should not be formed on the basis of suspicion and fear. Leaders who are products of such coalitions, he warned, will not accept criticism from ordinary Kenyans.

“Let’s have a president who will accept to be corrected. If all goes well you are looking at that president,” he said. He urged voters to vet leaders and shun those that give them empty promises.
If elected president, Mr Mudavadi pledged that his government would fund free education from primary school to Form Four.
“We will also allocate funds to set up technical institutions in all the 47 counties,” said the Sabatia MP.
