Judge my development record not Raila’s, Oburu tells Siaya voters

By Lawrence Aluru
Bondo MP Oburu Odinga moved his campaign for the Siaya senate to his rival James Orengo’s home turf in Ugenya, a week after the latter campaigned in Bondo.
Yesterday, Oburu said that throughout his 19-year service as MP, nobody had complained he should relinquish his seat.
“The issue of my brother (Raila Odinga) should not arise in this campaign because I just want to bring development to this county,” said Oburu.
Speaking at Sega and Ugunja markets, Oburu said that abuses are not good during campaigns adding that accepting defeat would boost peace in the county.
He said voters should judge his development record and not his brother’s in deciding who becomes the senator in the General Election.
He traversed Ugenya from Sigomre through Kanyumba, Bar Ober, Sega, Ukwala and finally Ugunja and promised to build the dilapidated roads in the constituency.
He reminded the constituents that even though people were complaining he had only helped institutions in Bondo such Teachers College, Bondo University, and now the upcoming Kisumu Polytechnic, it was as a result of his desire for development.
