An MP from Kiambu was thoroughly embarrassed when his girl friend dumped him in public. The drama between the two played out at a popular cafe in Westlands several days ago. The angry young woman told off the Mheshimiwa and used some choice language to describe him. And in a final flourish, she told the MP to stay with his cash as she was beautiful enough to attract his replacement in minutes!

The season of wazees  installing politicians as community elders is here with us. The script goes like this—a group of elders claiming to represent community A install Politician X from the same community or another as a sign that they have endorsed his and very very rarely, her candidacy. This practice has not been going down well with some MPs from the Rift Valley who were overheard complaining that some of the so-called community elders are 'pretenders' who have mastered the art of 'installing people." It could be a case of sour grapes but the MPs were saying that it is time that communities come up with a way of 'vetting' the elders to distinguish the genuine ones from the fake.'

One of the governor aspirants from Western Kenya held a fund raising dinner at a hotel on Wednesday night to try and recoup some of the millions of shillings he lost to some few conmen and political brokers who were running his campaign. The aspirant's campaign kitty received quite a boost when he managed to raise Sh20 million during the dinner. Two of the leading contenders for the presidential seat donated Sh1 million each to the kitty while his friends and former colleagues in the government raised Sh4 million. It seems cash is not only his problem, the aspirant is a closet supporter of Uhuru Kenyatta's TNA and is afraid that if this becomes public, he will lose whatever chance he has to become governor!

All good things come in threes, so it is said. For Gor Mahia football fans, the first was the 'miracle' of Barack Obama's re-election on Tuesday. Today, they are confident that the club will lift the premier league cup. To celebrate the trophy, plans are already underway to have as many of the club's supporters attend a 'kesha' (nightlong vigil) outside the Tom Mboya statute in the city. The 'thanksgiving' vigil will be marked with prayers for the third and last miracle— that of Raila Odinga clinching the presidential elections in 2013!
