Who is the PRESIDENTIAL aspirant in this new Sh 13 billion SCANDAL?

Who is the PRESIDENTIAL aspirant in this new Sh 13 billion SCANDAL?

Tuesday August 14, 2012 - It seems corruption is in the blood vessels of our public officers and they cannot survive without it.

The DAILY POST can now reveal that the City Council of Nairobi is planning to sell seven residential estates to offset a Sh13 billion unaccounted debt, setting the stage for an increase in rents for tenants living in the quarters.

The Nairobi City Council, through corrupt marred Finance and Planning Committee, passed a resolution on Tuesday last week to transfer the estates to the Local Authorities Pension Trust (LAPTRUST) instead of paying Sh8 billion directly in unremitted retirement deductions from workers.

Other assets would be sold to offset a controversial Sh5 billion loan City Hall borrowed from Equity Bank last year without authority from the Ministry of Local Government.

The properties lined up for sale include Jivanjee/Bachelors Quarters, Old Ngara, New Ngara, Kariakor, Jamhuri and Buru Buru as well as Sunken car park along Taifa Road.

“We know that some people within the council are dubiously pushing through deals to fundraise for election financing. We will not allow them to sell council houses,” Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu who is the whistle blower told parliament on Monday.

Waititu said he had instructed his lawyers to move to court to stop the intended transactions and called on Nairobi residents to reject the move.

Waititu said the Ministry of Local Government and City Council of Nairobi officials are colluding with a prominent presidential aspirant to finance his elections in order to reciprocate the gesture with powerful posts when he wins the forthcoming elections.
Among those who are involved in dubious transactions is local government PS Prof Karega Mutahi and new town clerk Roba Duba.

It is also alleged that the controversial Sh5 billion loan which City Hall took from Equity Bank went to Philip Kisia’s personal account and he has since resigned from the council.

Waititu said Kisia’s campaign machinery in the Nairobi gubernatorial race is still using taxpayers’ money he stole from City Hall.
