STATEMENT BY NATIONAL ELECTION BOARD

STATEMENT BY NATIONAL ELECTION BOARD

THE ORANGE DEMOCRATIC MOVEMENT

The National Elections Board wishes to report that the nomination exercise for candidates in Ndhiwa Constituency and other vacant civic seats across the country is going on well save for a few isolated cases.

In Ndhiwa, there was a problem in the morning at Ratanga polling station where rowdy youths accosted our officers and destroyed electoral materials which were meant to be used in the nominations.

However, the situation has been arrested and fresh ballot papers send to the polling station and voting started immediately. The board takes this opportunity to warn all the aspirants that stern action will be taken against those who violet the electoral code of conduct which they appended their signatures to.

Investigations have been launched to establish the person(s) involved in the morning incident and if any of the candidates is found guilty, then they will be disqualified automatically regardless of the outcome.

All polling stations are open and voting is going on peacefully. The exercise closes at 5.pm.
