Mariah is not happy that Nicki is a judge too
Nicki Minaj may well become a judge on "American Idol," but it will be at the expense of Mariah Carey, who TMZ says hung up the phone when she was told Nicki was the top candidate.
Sources connected with "Idol" told TMZ that Mariah was led to believe she would be the only woman on the judge's panel. Choosing Nicki would not only crush that expectation, it would add insult to injury because Nicki (29) is a lot younger than Mariah (42).
"I'm not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it," the source told Us Magazine. "A few more things to sign off on but it is happening."
Another source told the magazine that Minaj is "100% confirmed to judge 'American Idol.'"
Previous judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler announced that they were leaving the show, sending viewers into a frenzy wondering what musicians would be brought in to fill the void.
