SHOCKING DETAILS from ODM's minutes during PEV

SHOCKING DETAILS from ODM's minutes during PEV

Here below are minutes doing rounds on the net. Read and be the judge.

CRISIS MEETING SEVEN
 Date: Jan. 8th 2008.
PRESENT:
Hon. Eng. Raila A. Odinga (Chairman),
Hon. William Ruto (Pentagon),
Hon. Musalia Mudavadi (Pentagon),
Hon. Najib Balala (Pentagon),
Hon. Charity Ngilu (Pentagon),
Hon. James Orengo (Legal Counsel),
Hon. Otieno K’ajwang’ (Legal Counsel – taking minutes) and
Hon. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o (Secretary).

ABSENT – Joseph Nyaga (Pentagon).

· AGENDA – Special meeting in regard to the Kiambaa Episode (read the genocidal KAG Kiambaa Church inferno, on January 1, 2008). The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 2.30pm.

· 1) The events of New Year’s Day in Kiambaa have been a two edged sword. The effectiveness of the Church burning cannot have been better. Reports streaming in are quite clear; the few Kikuyus who were holding out are leaving in droves…

· This one was truly ‘shock and awe’, and the PNU diehards now realize that there are sections of the country that mean business. The international community is now awake to the anger of the people.

· 2) On the flip side, some are now arguing that the killings were callous and brutal, and that we will lose some support from foreign sympathizers…

· The Chairman reminded us that although the brutality is shocking, war is not for those with a queasy stomach. Collateral damage is inevitable and these types of scenes are the most effective to get the world to take the Kenya situation seriously…

· THEREFORE, a word of congratulations, and a reasonable token of appreciation must be sent to the lieutenants and soldiers who successfully planned and carried out the mission.

· 3) For damage control, the Chairman will go on a media offensive and downplay the brutality of the operation and at the same time use it as a propaganda tool to encourage foreign intervention…

· It is suggested that the Chairman go on an international news forum in this case; local news will not have much impact. Chairman is to do this as a matter of priority, and we shall review at the next meeting.

· 4) Hon. Ruto shall co-ordinate the token of appreciation to the team on the ground. A figure of Kshs.600, 000 is proposed by Hon. Ruto and the committee approves…

· At the end of this meeting, The Chairman shall call Hon. Magara to have the funds ready this evening.

· 5) A.O.B: Hon. Musalia noted that the efforts (read the killings against the Kikuyu/GEMA communities) in the City had slowed down considerably…

· Ways to enhance our cadres in the Eastlands area need to be put in place as a matter of urgency and this matter should be the primary agenda for the next meeting. The meeting closed at 3.30pm.

Signed by Hon. Otieno K’ajwang

· “CRISIS MEETING NINE –
Date Jan. 24th 2008.
PRESENT:
Hon. Eng. Raila A. Odinga (Chairman),
Hon. William Ruto (Pentagon),
Hon. Musalia Mudavadi (Pentagon),
Hon. Charity Ngilu (Pentagon),
Hon. Najib Balala (Pentagon),
Hon. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o (Secretary),
Hon. James Orengo (Legal Counsel) and
Hon. Otieno K’ajwang’ (Legal Counsel – taking minutes).
ABSENT – Joseph Nyaga (Pentagon).

· 1) The Chairman briefed the committee that following continuing discussions with our foreign friends, the violence had reached a level at which intervention of an unspecified type was inevitable…

· The publicized deaths were having the effect predicted in last week’s meeting, and it was clear that this would not be a repeat of 1997.

· 2) Funds are running out dangerously low. The effort in RV (read Rift Valley) has taken a lot more than anticipated and the token for Kiambaa proposed earlier needed to be doubled. The Chairman approved this increment on the advice of Hon. Ruto…

· The reports by Hon. Ruto and his sub-committee indicate that the preliminary assessment of funds available is not enough to last more than another ten days…

· The Chairman advises that we should cut back on all other expenditure; RV is a priority because it is forcing PNU to make several mistakes and keeping the matter in international news…

· The Chairman concedes that the battle in Nairobi has swung to PNU and we should use resources where the best effect is achievable.

· 3) Diaspora efforts in fund raising and propaganda have been tremendous. It will be necessary to send a senior member for high level meetings, and to brief them of developments on the ground.

· 4) An optimistic estimate is that at the end of seven days, there may be a tentative proposal from EU (read European Union) that a fresh election be called. A pessimistic estimate is that another three weeks is needed. Much will depend on how much we can escalate the showdown in RV (read Rift Valley).

· 5) A.O.B: Committee members gave a word of thanks to the Chairman for his remarkable speech at the BBC programme in which he managed the Kiambaa matter in an exemplary fashion. Meeting closed 8.30pm.

Signed by Hon. Otieno K’ajwang’.”

· Let us, very briefly, have a look at the “remarkable speech…in an exemplary fashion” alluded to by these war criminals:

· On 16th January 2008, Raila, in a televised BBC TV interview “explained what happened”: -

· “A very powerful point indeed, and we ourselves have issued a statement condemning the incident that took place in a church in Eldoret, but what are the facts?

· The Catholic father who is in charge has given the explanation in that these people who were attacking members of other communities were being chased and when they were being chased, they went to take refuge in a church and the pursuers then pursued them into the church…

· They did not know that in the church there were children which were being kept there as refugees. So in the process of course they set the church on fire…”

· NB: The church was an Assemblies of God Church and not a Catholic church; there couldn’t, therefore, have been a Catholic priest!
