Wednesday August 15, 2012 -Presidential hopeful Martha Karua has demanded disciplinary action be taken on Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka for use of government facilities during their presidential campaigns.

Speaking in Kirinyaga County during her presidential rally, Karua said the two are disregarding the law by using government vehicles in their campaigns.

“We cannot tolerate politicians using government machinery when campaigning,” Karua said. 

She said IEBC should penalise politicians who use government facilities in their campaigns.

“The IEBC needs to start acting on politicians who are flouting the rules by using taxpayer’s money to campaign,” she said.

According to Political Parties Act 2011, the Act outlaws the use of government vehicles and funds for political campaigns.

Karua, who is also the Gichugu MP, said impunity during the campaign period causes violence and urged the IEBC to ensure all political campaigns adhere to the election code of conduct.

She said she will unite Kenyans once she assumes Presidency next year.
