Dr WILLY Mutunga to tour all 47 COUNTIES

Wednesday August 15, 2012 – Chief Justice Dr Willy Mutunga has said he will tour all the 47 counties to ask the public not to bribe judicial officers.

Mutunga, top judges and magistrates will traverse the country from next week in a tour aimed at creating awareness on the operations of the judiciary.

Addressing a regional workshop on women’s political leadership dialogue in Nairobi,   Dr Mutunga said “next week we will go round the country without our robes and gowns to talk to Kenyans about free and fair elections. We shall also be telling Kenyans to stop bribing us”

He said he will ensure that next elections are free and fair and he will not be intimidated by powerful forces as previous CJs used to be misused.

He said any judicial official who will be spotted receiving a bribe from members of the public will be arrested and prosecuted.

The CJ has been in the frontline in carrying well structured judicial reforms which has made him the most admired Chief Justice in Kenya’s history.
